Aso Base Backpackers exceeded my expectations. The interior was beautifully arranged, with cute and functional furniture and decorations. Everything was extremely clean, except for some fellow housemates who didn't clean up after themselves. The location was perfect, right next to the station and Lawson convenience store. The owners were friendly and provided helpful information about the area. I highly recommend this hostel for its great quality at a cheap price.

The hostel was a cozy and comfortable place to stay. the common area was filled with thoughtful touches, like a writing desk where you could listen to music by the window. I also appreciated the free tea and coffee. the location was perfect, being close to the base of Mt. Aso and just a short walk from the Aso station. It was a great spot for exploring the area and even trying hitchhiking from the road.
That the reception was closed for a large part of the day, and there was only a small window of time for check-in. the male cleaner also wasn't very friendly, which was a bit off-putting.

Super convenient location, just a short walk from the train and bus station. the common area had a cozy and rustic feel, which added to the charm of the surrounding area. - I really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff in providing recommendations for things to do and see nearby.
The reception had limited opening hours, which made it a bit inconvenient when needing assistance or purchasing items from the hostel. It would have been helpful if the hostel had provided more detailed information in advance regarding the limited reception hours.
